L’essai triaxial applique des contraintes selon trois axes pour déterminer la cohésion et l’angle de frottement interne du sol. Trois éprouvettes identiques subissent différentes contraintes de confinement afin de tracer les cercles de Mohr et la droite de Mohr-Coulomb. Les paramètres de résistance sont obtenus selon trois modes d’essai : UU (non consolidé non drainé), CD (consolidé drainé) et CU+U (consolidé non drainé avec mesure de pression d’eau), chacun reflétant des comportements à court ou long terme.
The triaxial test applies stresses along three axes to determine soil cohesion and internal friction angle. Three identical specimens undergo different confining pressures to plot Mohr circles and the Mohr-Coulomb failure line. Shear strength parameters are derived through three test types: UU (unconsolidated undrained), CD (consolidated drained), and CU+U (consolidated undrained with pore pressure measurement), each representing short- or long-term soil behaviour.
